AGREE: AI-Driven Agricultural Innovation Network: Rebuilding Ukraine’s Food Security and Alignment to EU

The AGREE project is not just a response to the challenges of war,is the creation of a new model of sustainable agriculture

The first kick-off meeting of the partners of the international AGREE project took place on December 22, 2025. This project will combine Swedish experience and expertise in the field of agricultural technology and deep knowledge of the Ukrainian agro sector to overcome the consequences of the war and modernize the industry.

Meeting participants:

Victor Kordas – senior advisor international projects for project support at the international relations office KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) – main coordinator of the AGREEproject.

Anzhelika Gerasymenko – professor, vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work and international relations of the State University of Trade and Economics (SUTE).

Taras Karavayev – professor at the Department of Commodity Science and Customs Affairs, the project coordinator from SUTE.

Igor Oleksiv – professor at the Department of Management and International Entrepreneurship, the project coordinator from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Artem Boyarchuk – PhD, postdoctoral researcher, project coordinator from Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia. 

Key results of the first meeting:

During the discussion, the participants laid the foundation for further cooperation, focusing on the following aspects:

  • Alignment of strategic goals : The main priority is to restore Ukraine’s food security through the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) for field demining, soil monitoring, and resource optimization.
  • Defined roles : Partners established key areas of ownership, ranging from stakeholder engagement to the launch of a joint learning hub for farmers and scientists.
  • Synchronisation with EU requirements : Special attention was paid to the issue of adapting the Ukrainian agricultural sector to the European Union standards, which is critically important for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and increasing export potential.
  • Project Website : Partners agreed to develop the project website, to be designed and managed by the State University of Trade and Economics.


About the project:

AGREE aims to transform 30% of Ukraine’s currently unusable land into high-tech and safe production zones using AI solutions. The project builds a bridge between the academic community and practicing farmers, ensuring a real impact on the economic stability of the country.
